Biography

Susan Mokelke, J.D., is the president of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS, shamanism.org). She has practiced shamanism since 1996, receiving her shamanic training with the late Michael Harner and co-teaching with him for many years. She is the editor of the journal Shamanism Annual and has written extensively on shamanic methods. Currently, she teaches FSS workshops, including the Three Year Program in Advanced Shamanism, and maintains an active core shamanic healing practice. Susan has a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences from USC and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. Susan's current passion is working with the compassionate helping spirits to gain and apply shamanic wisdom from the spirits to resolve—in ordinary reality—persistent problems facing humanity, our precious Earth, and its inhabitants. To that end, she has developed two fully experiential workshops offered through the FSS: Shamanism for Inspired Local & Global Change and Shamanism & Personal Transformation.
